Sweet Baby Sam: 29-30 Weeks

Clearly at this point, I've completely ruled out any sort of regular blog posting until Sam gets here. It's been a rough couple of weeks. Remember when I mentioned ending up in the ER for "dehydration" about a month ago? Well, it turns out, it was actually kidney stones and I ended up back in the hospital for them last Tuesday. (Side Note: I deserve serious props for surviving the first round with no drugs. Kidney stones are no joke!) After 24 hours and a one night stay, some really good pain medicine and an IV of fluids, I was able to be discharged. I was still in a little pain, but nothing crazy that required meds at this point. As of Monday, I was still in pretty awful pain, so after a fun appointment for a 4-D ultrasound, I ended up back at the doctor for a shot in the hip. 4 days later and I'm still in a little pain, but was given a different medication to try today, and am hoping it will clear up all of my issues!

Even though I was still in pain, I was lucky enough to still be able to have my baby shower last weekend. It was tons of fun and I'm super grateful for all the love baby Sam and I have been shown. We are so lucky!

The sweetest surprise from the sweetest husband ever.

Speaking of lucky, I really am, y'all. While this pregnancy has been rough, it is 100 percent worth it. Just look at his sweet face! It's clear that he already looks just like his Daddy, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I can't say enough how blessed I feel just to be carrying a healthy, and obviously beautiful, baby boy. My heart is full of love and gratitude for him, his Daddy, and our precious friends and family. There is no pain I wouldn't endure for all of the good I have in my life.

Weight Gained: 16 Pounds. And yes, I eat like it's my job.
Symptoms: Well, let's see. Pre-pregnancy I had an overactive bladder. Top that off with hydronephrosis on both sides (which unlike most pregnant women, actually does cause me pain}, kidney stones, a bladder infection caused by the kidney stones, and bladder spasms, I pretty much live in the bathroom at this point. Seriously, I'm lucky if I can take a 10 minute trip to the doctor's office without having to stop at a gas station to pee on my way. It's ridiculous. Other than all of these issues, I'm doing pretty well!

Movement: I feel like movements are constant! He's kicking and punching like a mad man in there, and they are getting much harder. Some of them even make me gasp at times! Baby Sam is already strong!

Food Aversions: Oreos, Ritz Crackers, Sausage. The same as before.

Food Cravings: Still Five Guys Cheeseburgers! And white chocolate Reese's eggs. My doctor has forbidden me to eat regular chocolate or drink caffeine, so I was thrilled when I realized there was no caffeine in white chocolate! For a girl who eats it almost every day, living without it completely seems impossible.

Sleep: I want to laugh at the question of sleep right now. I probably wake up at least 8 times a night! It's miserable, but again, worth it!

Maternity Clothes?:I bought 3 non-maternity dresses from a local boutique in Spartanburg (Almost Pink) that will work no and later! I don't love wasting money on something I'll only wear for a short time so this was a big score for me!

Stretch Marks?: Still just a ton of veins!
Miss Anything?: Feeling like a normal human! My bladder will prevent us from taking a babymoon because we would have to stop too much for it to be worth it! I'll never take my pre-pregnancy over active bladder for granted again! (Although, I will be seeing a urologist first thing after he's born to hopefully find some long term relief!) Red wine and sushi are still on the list.

Baby Items Purchased: Crib, Dresser, glider, rug, plus all of our goodies from our baby shower! I still feel like we need so much, though!

Looking Forward To: Post pregnancy life at this point! I'm just ready for my baby boy to be in my arms!

Sweet Baby Sam: 28 Weeks

Helllooooo third trimester! You should see my face as I type that. Things are getting more and more real and I'm starting to get a little anxious over here! As I type this I'm resting on the couch to try to prevent/slow down some Braxton Hicks contractions per doctors orders. We're thinking I just did too much errand running and walking yesterday but we just want to be safe and make sure I'm not having too many, too quickly. Other than that, it's been a great week of family and friend time and I've acually really been enjoying pregnancy. I went back to wanting more than one baby which I feel like is a plus. While I was sick I swore this would be it. People aren't lying when they tell you that you'll forget the bad and only remember the good. Sam isn't even here yet and I already feel that way! Matt also finished painting the nursery and I'm in love with it. I legit cried when I woke up the next morning and saw it dry with no tape! I'll be sure to share our nursery once our furniture arrives and it's all decorated. It may be the only room in our house that is finished!
Weight Gained: 14 Pounds. Yep, three in the last week! Catching up at this point!
Symptoms: Braxton Hicks contractions. My belly button hurts like something serious?! I plan on asking my doctor about it on Monday at our 28 week appointment. Still ridiculously hangry. I also have some right side pain that seems to be coming from my kidneys? Again, something I plan on mentioning to my doctor just to be safe. My back basically hurts every day of my life so I'm getting used to that one at this point.

Movement: I have a feeling Sam is going to be one of those kids that never stops. It's like he never sleeps and is using my uterus as a punching bag. I'm totally cool with it, though. I love those sweet baby kicks. At this point when I tell Matt he's moving and Matt puts his hand on my belly, Sam stops. I don't know if he's in there yelling "Stranger Danger!" or he is comforted by his Daddy's hands. Either way, it's hilarious.

Food Aversions: Oreos, Ritz Crackers, Sausage.

Food Cravings: Dark Chocolate Cherry KIND bars, cookies, cheeseburgers, cereal. Apparently all things that start with the letter "C". Annnnnd I may or may not have given into my pizza Pringles craving. So worth it. It would be nice if my craving for healthy foods kicked back in but I am still eating them. Even if I do wish pretty much everything I eat would turn into a Five Guys burger. No shame.

Sleep: Not getting it. My "nesting" is just starting to kick in and I want to do all the things and get all the things done. (Which is no fun when your doctor tells you to chill.) By the time bed time rolls around my brain takes way too long to catch up with my body.

Maternity Clothes?:I bought a super cute dress and shirt from Target on Friday and I'm in love with both. Shout out to my girl Katy for talking me into the dress.

Stretch Marks?: No stretch marks but my belly looks like a road map of veins. I hear that goes away after he's born so that's a plus!
Miss Anything?: The ability to tie my own shoes comfortably. The struggle is real, y'all.

Baby Items Purchased: Does nursery paint count? Our furniture should be here by next Friday!

Looking Forward To: My baby shower!

Necessary Neutrals: Shoe Edit

the girlish blog, neutral shoes for spring, spring style, spring fashion
one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight

Happy Friday, friends! I have a fun little day of lunch and shopping ahead of me with a girlfriend but I wanted to pop in really quickly and share some major shoe inspiration before you head out to do the same this weekend!

I've always been a shoe person. Meaning, I'll spend over $100 on a pair of shoes and buy a $10 shirt and be totally happy. This spring is clearly no exception. I'm dying over all of the fun neutrals and I'm not exaggerating when I say every single one of these is on my wishlist. I'm having the hardest time trying to choose which ones to buy first. These Steve Maddens (which also come in a beautiful neon yellow!) and these Sam Edelmans are at the top of my list and I definitely want one for my bridal shower in a couple of weeks. Again, I just can't choose! And aren't these fun fringe ones are to die for?! If I thought I could walk in them properly with my growing bump, they may be number one on my list. The Rebeca Minkoffs are the perfect dupe for these Valentinos and from what I hear they're way more comfortable.

But clearly out of all of these shoes, I have an obsession with Steve Madden. If I could only recommend one brand of shoes to wear for the rest of your life, Steve Maddens are the way to go! They're always so reasonably priced, especially for the quality, and his designs always stay on trend while still remaining timeless!

Sweet Baby Sam: 27 Weeks

No lone baby bump shot this week, but you can see our little nugget poking his way out in this one of me and my handsome husband. This past Sunday we got to celebrate NewSpring Spartanburg's 4th birthday and the service was one of the most heart opening, beautiful services I have ever been a part of. Our pastor preached on forgiveness and the entire message touched my heart in ways I can't explain. If you're local and need a home church, I hope you'll consider visiting us! And if you're not local and interested in the message, you can watch Sunday's service online here.

I won't lie, I'm starting to freak out just a little bit that this is my last week in my second trimester. We have So. Much. To. Do. We basically have everything to do! We've been serious procrastinators, but I have a feeling I'm about to go full "nesting" mode and get it all done pretty quickly! We will see!

As far as how I've been feeling, half the week was really good, and half was really bad. I have a ton of energy, which I'm really grateful for, but on Thursday night/Friday morning I ended up in the Labor and Delivery wing of the hospital due to severe back pain. I seriously thought I was either dying, or Sam was coming. Long story short, it turns out I was extremely dehydrated. Apparently, my body just never caught back up from having the stomach virus (and I don't drink enough water anyways because of my bladder issues). Luckily, the nurse sent me home with a quart of water and a heating pack I stuck under the belly band they gave me at the hospital. 7 hours, 2 showers, 3 baths, 4 quarts of water, and a lot of time on a heating pad later, I finally started to feel better. It took me two full days to feel like myself again, but I've been chugging water (and living in the bathroom) out of this quart cup ever since. I will say, it has done wonders for my skin! I will definitely make sure to keep up with it, as that was probably one of the worst pains I've ever experienced!

Weight Gained: 11 Pounds. Picked up a pound in this past week. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the entire pan of rice krispie treats I ate all by myself now, could it?!
Symptoms: The hanger is so real, y'all. I want to eat everything all day long! I've also been struggling with some low back/sciatic pain that is no fun. I see a chiropractic visit in my near future!

Movement: Sam is still a constant mover. They say babies at this point sleep 80% of the time, but I just don't see how that's possible. Every night when I lay on my side to go to sleep is when he becomes to most active. It's probably my most favorite too, because holding my belly when I'm on my side makes me feel like I'm really holding my baby. It's so surreal. He's also pretty active every time I wake up in the middle of the night so I still feel like it's his favorite time of day!

Food Aversions: Oreos and Ritz Crackers.

Food Cravings: Chocolate anything! Cake, cookies, whatever. My sweet tooth is back with a vengeance! Luckily, my Chipotle addiction is back. I knew that aversion wouldn't last long. "Chipotle is my liiiiiife." Also, pizza Pringles. I haven't eaten any yet but I cannot stop thinking about them.

Sleep: It goes back and forth. I took a two hour nap yesterday which ruined any chances of getting any sleep at night. I don't know when I'm going to learn!

Maternity Clothes?: I'm planning on shopping for a few things on Friday. I tried on some stuff in my closet and luckily, I have a few dresses and kimonos that will take my pretty far through this pregnancy.

Stretch Marks?: Nothing new here. Thank you, Jesus!
Miss Anything?: I would love to sit in a hot bath with an Olivia Pope size glass of red wine. I'll miss it until it happens. {Legit same as last week!}

Baby Items Purchased: Baby shopping starts Friday! More specifically, we are ordering baby Sam's nursery furniture and paint his room this weekend. Also, my sweet friend Kristin bought him the cutest fratty outfits ever (He's gonna be just like his Daddy!) plus the book Cornelius and a little stuffed crocodile to go with it. We love books around here and Sam seriously already has the best aunts EVER.

Looking Forward To: My baby shower and having a furnished/painted nursery!
